Building a strong community is important, both literally and figuratively. Thanks to the world of construction, communities around the world continue to make a positive impact by bringing people together. Discover these great organizations building a brighter world for many, while creating bonds that last a lifetime.

Habitat for Humanity is an international nonprofit organization working in local communities across every state in America and 70 countries. Their vision is to create a world where everyone has a home to live in. In partnership with construction leaders and program participants, volunteers are able to build strength, stability, and self-reliance in themselves and with families in need through affordable housing.

Did you know that 81 percent of high school dropouts say relevant, real-world learning opportunities would have kept them in high school? NCCER’s Pathways to Prosperity program has promoted career and technical education (CTE) through teacher resources, videos, and student outreach since 1997. This program has improved graduation rates in CTE programs to 90 percent nationally, helps students earn and learn the skills required for a job after school, and has even helped increase job satisfaction across the industry.

NCCER also builds community through its Hard Hat Heroes program. This initiative brings the construction industry right to the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, giving free construction credentials to veterans to make them more marketable to employers. NCCER credentials are respected throughout the industry and help applicants secure an apprenticeship, earn higher wages, and even offer opportunities for promotion.

The construction industry does so much more than build housing, neighborhoods, towns, and cities. It creates community through real-world skills, programs, and educational opportunities. Take the next step towards starting a career in construction today. Find a career in construction built just for you.
